The Corruption Model
The Corruption Model
The Corruption Model is a series of 68 artworks by Giancarlo Diablo Santana made in 2023 with the intention of stimulating dialogue around the systemic problems in Botswana’s political infrastructure as well as highlighting the plight of the ordinary Motswana* who must endure life under a questionable democracy with crippling corruption despite its super tidy international image.
The artworks were originally exhibited in 2023 as part of an exhibition titled Yo o Sa Leleng, curated by Giancarlo Santana.
*Motswana is the Setswana word used to refer to a person from Botswana not “Botswanan”.
Plural: Batswana
